First celebrity corona outbreak! American actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita test positive for COVID-19

New Delhi, March 12: In a shocking revelation on Thursday, the American actor and filmmaker Tom Hanks disclosed that he and his wife, actress Rita have been tested positive for coronavirus. "We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive", he said taking to the social media.
 
The actor is currently filming in Australia for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann's untitled Elvis Presley film. Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were in Australia and felt a little unwell while the duo have been now isolated and monitored.

"What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks' will be tested observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety require. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?" the actor further wrote. He is well known for his comedic and dramatic roles in films like Splash, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, You've Got Mail, Sully and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. He received a Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2016.
Australia has had more than 126 cases confirmed cases of coronavirus. With 64 in New South Wales, 18 in Victoria, 17 in Queensland, 15 in both Western Australia and South Australia, 2 in Tasmania, and 10 on the Diamond Princess. The Australian Government has unveiled a comprehensive $2.4 billion health package to protect all Australians, including vulnerable groups such as the elderly, those with chronic conditions and Indigenous communities, from the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The virus had its first outbreak in Chinese city Wuhan last year December. The World Health Organization earlier Wednesday declared the outbreak is now a pandemic and urged governments to step up containment efforts as the number of worldwide cases topped 123,000 and deaths exceeded 4,500. The majority of new cases are reported from Italy, Iran, and the Republic of Korea. The majority of deaths outside mainland China have been in Italy and Iran.
