Standing strong against COVID-19! MHA declares Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to the corona death descendant

New Delhi, March 14: COVID-19 has created worrisome situation all over the country. While everyone is striving to withstand against the care fight, the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to award Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia to the family of the person who will lose their life due to Coronavirus, including those involved in relief operations or associated in response activities.

In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the Supreme Court has issued a notification directing that the functioning of the court will restricted to urgent matters with such a number of benches as may be found appropriate. It has been notified that only a lawyer of related matter or in case of few cases one person can be allowed either for an argument or for oral submission.

As a precautionary measure, Delhi High Court has also decided to restrict its hearing from Monday. The decision was taken in the presence of high court judges, in a meeting of the administration and general supervision committee. The high court has decided that it will take up only urgent matters from Monday. Dates in routine matters will be given by the court master before the court assemblies.

Taking note of the severity of the situation as well as increasing cases reported across the country, dangers and implications of allowing large number of lawyers and litigants to congregate in court premises were also discussed. The Supreme Court is on break on Holi and is scheduled to reopen on Monday, 16 March 2020.
