Predicting rain doesn't count! Heavy rains lash Delhi, Punjab and Haryana

Chandigarh, March 14: Heavy rains along with hailstorm and thunderstorms have hit parts of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana on Saturday adding to the woes of the farmers in the two agrarian states who fear that the prolonged wet spell could cause more damage to crops. 
 
The meteorological department while informing, said that the minimum temperature settled a notch above the season’s average at 16.4 degrees Celsius with a cloudy morning in the national capital. "The humidity level at 8.30 am was recorded at 88%", it added.

“Very small (about 5km*25km*8km dimension) but the intense convective cloud is located over central parts of Delhi which are likely to cause moderate rain along with moderate thunderstorm & hail activity during the next 2 hours. It will subside thereafter (sic),” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) tweeted.
With this, the Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has demanded that the government should give compensation for crop damage to the farmers as soon as possible. Rain has also flattened wheat crop in many areas of Yamunanagar, Karnal and Kurukshetra districts in Haryana.
