Bhopal, March 16: In a reprieve for beleaguered, the Budget Session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly has been adjourned till March 26 in a disguised view of the Coronavirus outbreak. Prior to this, Governor Lalji Tandon, in his brief customary address before the session, appealed to the members to uphold Parliamentary traditions and responsibilities in a peaceful manner, putting forth the demand for holding of a floor test.

The fate of the Kamal Nath-led Congress Government in Madhya Pradesh was to be decided at the floor of the State Assembly today. Governor Lalji Tandon had directed the Chief Minister to seek a trust vote in the house. He had also asked Nath to seek the trust vote immediately after the Governor's address in the assembly. The 15- month old state govt in MP is on the verge of collapse due to the resignation of 22 Congress MLAs.
"I would like you to recall that when I met you on March 13, 2020, I had brought to your notice that BJP has kept many Congress MLAs as captive under the control of Karnataka Police and they were forced to give different types of statements. I have clarified that in such a situation holding any floor test has no meaning and it will be undemocratic and unconstitutional," Nath flagrantly stated.
"If the BJP is demanding floor test and saying that we don't have majority, they should bring a no-confidence motion against my government. Why are they shying away (from brining a no-confidence motion). We will prove our majority," Nath said blatantly.

Earlier in the day, MLAs from BJP and Congress started arriving at the state Assembly for the session. MLAs of the BJP reached the Assembly in three separate buses along with senior party leaders. They had landed in Bhopal from Manesar in Haryana at around 2 am, as revealed by the initial reports.
