A more obstacle! Centre postpones CBSE boards, JEE entrances as precaution to COVID-19

New Delhi, March 19: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday decided to postpone all the scheduled exams including 10th and 12th as precautionary measure to contain the COVID-19 epidemic. This is probably after the board inherited the instructions from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on Wednesday.

“The decision was taken in compliance of the instructions received from secretary, department of higher education/school education and illiteracy, government of India. All ongoing examinations of the board of classes 10 and 12,being held in examination centres in India and abroad, and scheduled between March 19, 2020 to March 31, 2020 (both dates inclusive), shall be rescheduled after March 31, 2020", said Anurag Tripathi, secretary of CBSE.
The HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank minister also advised all students to follow the health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. "Together we can fight the corona virus. Be safe and keep others safe, too", he noted. Meanwhile, the evaluation work related to the ongoing board exams in various part of the country has also been suspended upto 31st March.
 
Regarding the JEE mains, where students need to travel to different cities, the governement has instructed that it must be postponed too. "The information about JEE mains will be announced on 31st March after the re-assessment of situation", the statement added. As of the latest reports, the total number of positive cases in India stands at 172 including 3 deaths and 14 people recovered. With the highest number of cases, Maharashtra stands at 47.
