Indian Navy too joins in to fight against Coronavirus; Sets up quarantine camp in Visakhapatnam

Vishkapatnam, March 19: In an order to add up to country's fight against the deadly coronavirus, the Indian Navy has decided to set up a quarantine camp at the INS Vishwakarma in Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Visakhapatnam for Indian nationals who are being evacuated from Coronavirus-hit nations.

The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has provided all the requirements which are being arranged in the camp to accommodate for almost 200 personnel. "The evacuees who will be staying in the camp will be closely monitored to ensure social distancing and under medical supervision in accordance with the protocols laid down by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India by a team of naval personnel and medical professionals of ENC," the statement reported.
As a precautionary measure, the evacuated persons are supposed to be kept under quarantine for a span of fourteen days. ENC has been proactively coordinating with the Health Officials from State and District Administration to ensure adequate preventive care is provided to all evacuees and to prevent the spread of the virus.
 
"The government has been taking all the necessary precautions to ensure that we are ready and prepared well to face the challenge and threat posed by the growing pandemic of the coronavirus. With the active support of the people of India, we have been able to contain the spread of the Virus in our country", it added further.
 
Earlier last week on Friday, the Western Naval Command had already set up a Coronavirus quarantine facility in Mumbai for the 44 Indians who came from Iran for two weeks. It has a 100-bed quarantine camp within the premises of Material Organisation Ghatkopar. As of latest reports, the total number of positive cases in India stands at 172 including 3 deaths and 14 people recovered. With the highest number of cases, Maharashtra stands at 47.
