President likely to undergo COVID-19 test

New Delhi, Mar 21: President Ram Nath Kovind is likely to undergo test for Coronavirus, according to Rashtrapati Bhavan sources.

A couple of days ago the President hosted a breakfast party for the MPs from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The party was attended by Rajasthan MP Dushyant Singh who had earlier attended a party at Lucknow in which famous singer Kanika Kapoor who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, also participated.


Dushyant Singh and his mother former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje too had participated in the Lucknow party hosted by the in-laws of Dushyant Singh. Singer Kanika Kapoor, who tested positive for the virus had attended that party as a guest.

Dushyant Singh and Vasundhara Raje are currently in self-quarantine after testing negative for the virus. Vasundhara Raje said in a tweet that she and her son had attended the party at Lucknow and later tested negative for the disease.


Dushyant Singh too had tweeted that he tested negative for the coronavirus but chose to be in self-quarantine.


Dushyant Singh shared the photographs of the breakfast meeting hosted by the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 18. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, Skill Development Mahendra Nath Pandey, Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Minister of State for Surface Transport V K Singh.

It is not clear whether all these dignitaries present at the meeting would also undergo coronavirus test.

On Friday, singer Kanika Kapoor became the first Indian celebrity to test positive for Covid-19. In a statement released on Instagram, Kanika said: For the past 4 days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for COVID-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward.”
