As the deadly coronavirus outbreak spread in the nation including Delhi, it went under lockdown. The Delhi government had declared a complete lockdown since 6 am on Monday and all public transport and non-essential services are suspended till March 31. This led to most of the protesting women at Shaheen Bagh leaving the protest site.

Despite declaring the lockdown, on Monday there were protesters agitating and continued to protest, however, the police removed them from the site. In the process, few protesters were also detained for violating Section 144 prohibitory orders during the lockdown while some protesters left the site and showed solidarity by keeping their slippers on the site.

However, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) RP Meena said, "people at the protest venue in Shaheen Bagh were requested to vacate the site as lockdown has been imposed due to coronavirus outbreak." The police also removed protesters from Jamia University, Hauz Rani, Turkman Gate, Seelampur and Jaffrabad. Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, 415 confirmed cases of the virus including 7 deaths have been reported in India.
