New Delhi, March 27: Releasing his first English Solo 'Control' last week, singer Armaan Malik has scripted history as he becomes the first Indian ever to feature on Spotify Times Square Billboard. Armaan has expressed his happiness on social media on attaining this massive stage.

Billboard had announced on 12 March that Malik had signed with Arista Records for his first official English-language single, “Control” which came out on 20 March. Signing with Artista, he joined the line-up of former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, "Yellow Hearts" singer Ant Saunders, JP Saxe, Stephen Puth and Greyson Chance. The song has, as of now gained more than 7 million views. His first English solo "Control" is helmed by Bobby Hanaford. The dark, trippy and sensuous appeal of the song is been loved by fans.

Malik has performed more than 200 shows around the world, and at 23, he became the youngest Indian singer to be a coach on the Indian version of The Voice. Making his place in the Indian music industry, he's now setting his sights across the global crossover. The playback singer has gained popularity with many super hits by lending his vocals in dozens of popular Bollywood films including the recent one from Telugu-language action film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, for which his rendition of "Buttabomma" has topped 5 million Spotify plays.
 
 
The singer comes from a family of musicians (his father is Indian composer Daboo Malik), and his brother is also a singer and composer. Notably, last year, he also voiced the titular character in the Hindi-dubbed version of Disney’s Aladdin live-action remake and was the singing voice of Simba in The Lion King remake.
 
Earlier, Malik had said, “To write and release English music has been my dream for as long as I can remember, and I couldn’t have found a better family than Arista Records to be starting this new journey with. There’s no better feeling than to know that I’m in such good hands with an executive like David Massey, who truly believes in me, this project and also shares the same vision as me about global music.”
