Golden Era of 90's back again! Re-run Shaktiman, Shriman Shrimati, Chanakya too now on DD

New Delhi, March 31: Following the rescheduling of Ramayana and Mahabharat, Doordarshan is all set to bring back its "Golden era" by retelecasting its iconic shows like Shrimaan Shrimati, Chanakya, and Shaktimaan to entertain the audience during the ongoing 21-day lockdown to combat coronavirus.

Doordarshan's iconic comedy serial Shrimaan Shrimati, which was produced by Markand Adhikari, is scheduled for a comeback on DD National from April in the 2 PM slot. The sitcom starring the late actors Reema Lagoo and Jatin Kanakia, and Archana Puran Singh and Rakesh Bedi, originally aired between 1994-98.
 
 
India's first superhero show, Shaktimaan that aired on DD 1 from 1997 to 2005, had a strong fanbase among children. The most loved show will be aired for an hour daily from the first week of April at 1 pm.
 
Similarly, Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s critically acclaimed Chanakya, which will telecast in the afternoon on DD Bharti from the first week of April. Another show by Dwivedi called Upanishad Ganga will also be telecast on the same channel in the afternoon. Krishna Kali, which has got the prime time slot at 8.30 pm. The 18-episode series will be aired daily on the same channel.
 
Apart from 'Ramayana' and 'Mahabharat', earlier Byomkesh Bakshi and Circus have also flagged off their re-run on the small screen during the much needed 21-day national lockdown.
 
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced that all the DTH/Cable operators must show all the DD Channels as well as Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha channels as per the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act.
