"As per the preliminary investigation, one Muhsin from Trikkaripur, Kasargod, Kerala and others who had joined ISKP, are suspected to have been involved in the terrorist attack", the agency said in a statement. This is the first case of its kind which NIA has registered as the recent amendments in NIA Act have empowered the agency to investigate terror cases which are committed at any place outside India against the Indian Citizens or affecting the interest of India.

Heavily armed gunmen and suicide bombers stormed a Sikh gurdwara in the heart of Kabul on March 25, killing at least 27 worshippers and wounding as many, in one of the deadliest attacks on the minority community in the country. The gunmen attacked the gurdwara in Shor Bazar area at about 7:45 a.m. (local time) as 150 worshippers were inside the building.

India, strongly condemning the terrorist attack had said that targeting of a religious place in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak reflected the diabolical mindset of the perpetrators and their backers. "We commend the brave Afghan security forces for their valorous response to the attack and their exemplary courage and dedication to protect the Afghan people and secure the country," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar added.
