New Delhi, Apr 23: The United States of America is likely to suffer from the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, a top health official warned.

Robert Redfield, Director of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention told the Washington Post that the US could experience later this year more serious and difficult ramifications of the COVD-19 crisis. As of now, the Coronavirus has claimed 45000 plus lives in the US alone,

Redfield said that the US could face the flu epidemic and coronavirus pandemic at the same time over the winter.

Meanwhile, the US Administration has alleged that the World Health Organization (WHO) has become a tool of the ‘Chinese propaganda’, asserting that the global health agency has lost all its credibility during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

President Trump had recently announced that he would put a stop on funding the WHO accusing it of becoming "China-centric" during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Incidentally, the US is the largest funding source of the Geneva-based world health organization.

US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien said that the WHO has lost its credibility during this crisis. Comparing the US financial assistance to the WHO which stands at about $400 million as compared to that of China which is a meager sum of just $40mn, the NSA alleged that yet the WHO has become a tool of the Chinese propaganda’.

The COVID-19 has claimed more than 45,000 lives and infected over 824,000 people in the US. Globally, the virus has killed 177,445 people and infected over 2.5 million, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has announced the 60-day immigration ban which would apply to those seeking ‘green cards’ for permanent residency. This ban would help the Americans to regain jobs lost because of the coronavirus, Trump added.

The proposed ban would not apply to individuals entering the United States on a temporary basis, and would be re-evaluated once the 60-day period had passed, the President said.
