Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham and more Premier League Clubs resumes training sessions amid Corona

London, April 28: Following the Premier League organisers had shared its plan to continue the season named “Project Restart” last week, football clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion have decided to undertake training sessions with strict guidelines issued by the government.

 

 

The Premier League was suspended due to the deadly virus since March 13. However, a “Project Restart”, the league’s plan was established to kick-start the preparations for finishing the season by returning behind-closed-doors at approved stadiums on June 8. These preparations are being ramped up this week to resume full training by May 18, allowing players a three-week "pre-season".

 

Arsenal has already conducted a one-hour training session at their London Colney training centre. The social distancing measures were maintained, with no more than five players allowed on each of the complex’s 10 pitches at once. Players arrived and departed in the training kit. A small group of staff were in attendance and the manager Mikel Arteta, who had tested positive for the virus last month, was also present.

 

Tottenham Hotspurs read in a statement, "From [Tuesday], the club shall be making a limited number of pitches available at our training centre for members of our first-team squad to use for individual running sessions on a strict rotational basis." The players are also asked to carry their kits and maintain the social distancing measures.

 

Brighton said in a statement on Monday that the club was allowing "restricted external access to the training pitches for first-team players only, for non-compulsory individual training".

 

West Ham’s Rush Green training centre was given a deep clean and players are now allowed to attend one at a time for individual hour-long sessions with none of the buildings have been opened.

 

It is reported that "the players must bring their own equipment, including drinks, kit and towels, and will have to shower at home rather than at the ground, as they would normally. Some of West Ham’s playing staff live near the London Stadium, in the east end of the capital, where space to exercise has been limited."

 

“Players in apartments or without safe access to green spaces are permitted to individually run around the pitches at Rush Green,” a West Ham spokesperson said.

 

“Access will be limited to one player at a time and all sessions will be in line with government guidelines around social distancing, with everyone’s safety and wellbeing of paramount importance. Players will travel alone, conduct their tailored programmes and then return home. No one will be granted access to the main building.”

 

The organisers will be having a meeting on Friday as they are committed to finish this season.
