Bollywood's modern classic reel tycoon Irrfan Khan breaths last at 54!

Mumbai, April 29: Irrfan Khan, one of the most versatile and marvelous actors not only in the Indian film industry but also in the international cinema world, passed away on Wednesday morning fighting prolonged disease. The actor who was recently admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital was suffering from colon infection, following which he was kept under close observation by doctors.

Filmmaker Shoojit Sarkar, who worked with the actor in the film Piku (2015) took to Twitter to condole the actor's sudden demise. The actor was diagnosed with a rare type of neuroendocrine tumor underwent chemotherapy and treatment in the US, in 2018. The actor returned to India in September last year after surgery and treatment in London. He also came back in action through the " Angrezi Medium."
His 95-year-old mother had passed away three days ago on Saturday (26 April). He is known for his role in remarkable movies like Maqbool, Paan Singh Tomar, The Lunchbox. Irrfan is also known for his work in international projects like The Namesake, The Darjeeling Limited, Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, and Jurassic World among more. The master craftsman was Indian cinema's one of the finest known actors with the bundle of impeccable talent featured in some path-breaking movies. His last movie that was released is Homi Adajania’s Angrezi Medium.
 
He has been awarded the most prestigious National Film Award, Filmfare amongst many others. In 2011, Irrfan was honored with the Padma Shri by the government of India for his significant contribution to arts and cinema.
The brilliant actor was born in the village of Tonk near Jaipur, Irrfan’s mother had a royal lineage but his father was a self-made man. Eldest of three siblings, Irrfan joined the National School of Drama after his father’s death.
 
After some years he moved to Mumbai to pursue his passion, Irrfan was first seen in well-known shows at that time Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, Sara Jahan Hamara, Banegi Apni Baat, Chandrakanta, Shrikant on Doordarshan, AnooGoonj, Star Bestsellers, and Sparsh. He played Lenin in Doordarshan teleplay titled Laal Ghaas Par Neele Ghode. He was seen as an antagonist in TV show Darr.
 
However, he made his big-screen debut in the 1988 Mira Nair directorial 'Salaam Bombay'. The film was also nominated for the Academy Awards that year. After struggling for many years, success finally came to him after he starred in Asif Kapadia’s The Warrior (2001). Irrfan bagged his first lead role in 'Rog' which released in 2005.
