Amitabh Bachchan brings 'Family' together for short film to throw light on social distancing

Mumbai April, 08: Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan with other prominent actors from different regional film industries have come together for short film 'Family'. The four-minute film which is conceptualized and virtually directed by Prasoon Pandey talks about the importance of social distancing in the times of the coronavirus pandemic.
The short film features various actors- Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Chiranjeevi, Shiv Rajkumar, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Sonalee Kulkarni, and Diljit Dosanjh - and it revolves around Amitabh Bachchan's misplaced pair of dark sunglasses and everyone's attempts to find it. The superstars from regionals film industries have said dialogues in their respective languages.
The short film begins with Amitabh’s search for his dark shades as he puts his family members to look for it. However, at the end, when the glasses are found, he says that he does not need it as he will not step out of the house explaining the significance of the social distancing in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The short film is an initiative to spread awareness which is brilliantly told through entertainment. The film was shot by the cast members at their respective homes and was then clubbed together to create the end result. Big B said in the last part of the film, “Every artiste shot their own section in their own house. You too, please stay indoors. That’s the only way to keep yourself safe from the dangerous coronavirus. Stay indoors, stay safe.”
Noting the initiative, PM Narendra Modi appreciated the efforts saying, "You can be distant and you can be social. A great video with relevant messages. Have a look."
In the end, Big B calls the Indian film industry a “family” but there is another “huge family” which supports and works with them i.e. the workers and daily wage earners. “They are facing great difficulty due to the lockdown. We all have come together and teamed up, with the help of sponsors and TV channels, to raise a fund. This fund will be distributed to our workers and daily wage earners to provide them with some relief in these tough times,” he said.
