Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) is the world's largest volunteer organisation established by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925. Over the years, Khaki half pants have, thus, become the epitome of selfless service, reliance, nationalist sentiment and solidarity in the country.

In its history of 92 years, it has left no stone unturned to extend its support whenever India found itself in deep waters. The emergency, Indo-Pak war, Surat plague 1994, 2001 Bhuj earthquake, Kedarnath catastrophe 2013, Kashmir floods 2014 are a few to name. The COVID-19 pandemic has turned out to be a black swan that has brought the entire world on its knees. It has unprecedentedly impacted millions, rendering all of us helpless.
 
Gauging the problems faced at the grassroots level, Swayamsevaks have set out to aid the poor strata of the society yet again. Gujarat's alone houses over 20 million migrant workers from different cities. The lockdown has rattled their hearts and pockets alike by ceasing their source of income. Most of them have lost hope as they struggle to manage a square meal a day.
 
Starting with setting up relief centres and mobilising funds, Gujarat RSS Wing has been proactive to serve the front-liners and mitigate hunger among migrants and daily wage earners.

Besides, the Karyakartas themselves have donated funds and resources within their capacity for the cause. Yet, the collective efforts of the Sangh are largely overshadowed by the mainstream stereotypes against them.
