New Delhi, May 12: In a bid to stabilise the drowning economy amid the spread of deadly coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday declared a 'Atma Nirbhar' economic package. "Rs 20 lakhs in 2020", he noted lauding all those honest taxpayers. "The package would benefit the Shramiks, MSME businesses and industries", he said adding that FinMin Nirmala Sitharamn would give all the details by Wednesday.

This economic package is for that worker of the country, is for that farmer of the country. Whatever the situation, working hard day and night for the countrymen in every season. This economic package is for the middle class of our country, who pays tax honestly, contributes to the development of the country, he asserted.  
 
"We had never seen or heard about such a crisis ever before. This is definitely unimaginable for mankind. This was unprecedented. But humanity will not accept defeat from this virus. We have to not only protect ourselves but also move forward. More than 42 lakh people from different countries have been infected by #COVID19, more than 2.75 lakh people have lost their lives due to the virus. In India too many families have lost their dear ones, I express my condolences to them", he said.
When the crisis started, not even a single PPE kit was manufactured in India, only a few N95 masks were available. He lauded those making 2 Lakh PPE kits and 2 Lakh N95 masks in India daily. Today when the entire world is in crisis, PM Modi also noted that the citizens will have to further firm their resolve. "When India speaks of self-reliance, it does not advocate for a self-centered system. In India's self-reliance there is a concern for the whole world's happiness, cooperation & peace", he noted.
