Aatma Nirbhar- The road ahead!

New Delhi, May 13: The ultimate resource in the economic development is its people. It is people not capital or raw material that develop an economy. Directing attention to the said economic principle, PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening declared a 'Aatma Nirbhar' economic package he said would benefit the Shramiks, MSME businesses and the industries.

 

While this package is for that worker of the country, farmer of the country, it is also for the middle class of our country, who pays tax honestly, contributes to the development of the country as specifically noted by PM. Ahead of the Finance Miniter Nirmala Sitharaman giving the pin details of the '20 lakh cr in 2020' package that would make India economically independent, here are 5 pillars of self reliant India-

 

 

1. Economy- We need an economy that doesn't bring incremental change but makes quantum jumps.

 

2. Infrastructure- We need infrastructure that will become the identity of modern India.

 

3. System- We need a system that is no longer based on the rules and rituals of the past but one that actualises the dreams of the 21st century. This system needs to be technology-based.

 

4. Democracy- We are the world's biggest democracy. A vibrant demography is our strength. It is the source of energy for our efforts to make India self-reliant.

 

5. Demand- The cycle of demand and supply in our economy is an asset. We need to utilise this power fully.

 

Referring to the demand portin in specific, PM Modi further said that the local products have helped us fulfil our demands in the midst of corona. So why not be 'Vocal for Local' now? He said, we as Indians must not only use local products but also promote its use proudly. "When India speaks of self-reliance, it does not advocate for a self-centered system. In India's self-reliance there is a concern for the whole world's happiness, cooperation & peace", he said.

 

Further asserting that just one virus has destroyed the world, Modi said the pandemic has provided an opportunity to India to become self-reliant and emerge as a powerful country globally in the 21st century. In a televised address to the nation, Modi also said there will be a fourth phase of the lockdown which will be very different from the earlier three phases. The third phase of the lockdown is scheduled to end on May 17.
