Shakuntala Devi, starring Vidya Balan to release on OTT after Gulabo Sitabo' Know all deets inside-

Mumbai, May 15: Following the announcement of Gulabo Sitabo to be premiered on OTT platform, now Vidya Balan's much-awaited named 'Shakuntala Devi' will also be exclusively premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The producers on Friday announced that the biopic on the mathematician will be released next month, however, they have not announced the release date yet.

The film is based on the life of Shakuntala, who is widely revered as the human-computer for her innate ability to make incredibly complex calculations within seconds. She multiplies two random numbers of 13 digits in just 28 seconds. She also solved the 23rd root of 201 digit number in just 50 sec.
 
 
Apart from Vidya Balan the film also stars Dangal girl, Sanya Malhotra, who will be seen playing the role of Shakuntala Devi’s daughter, with whom the genius enjoyed a complicated but extraordinary relationship, alongside Amit Sadh and Jisshu Sengupta in pivotal roles.
 
 
It is helmed and written by Anu Menon and it has been produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Vikram Malhotra. The biopic was scheduled to be theatrically released on May 8 but was delayed due to COVID-19.
 
As the theaters and cinema halls have been remain shut across the country due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, and there is no sign of the resumption of operations any time soon, the filmmakers are opting for OTT platforms instead of cinema halls.
 
Othe films to be released on Amazon Prime Video are the Tamil-language Ponmagal Vandhal, starring Jyothika, and the Keerthy Suresh-headlined Penguin, the Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujatayum and the Kannada productions Law and French Biryani in 200 countries over the next three months.
 
The news comes a day after the makers announced to release Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana's Gulabo Sitabo on Amazon Prime Video. It will start streaming on June 12.
