SEWA DAY in Thailand! Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) gives family care kit to 2000 families

New Delhi, May 19: The Covid-19 containment measures imposed by the Thailand government has forced many people, especially the low-income communities to face tremendous hardships. To express solidarity with the local community and help them in this difficult time, the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) Thailand on May 17 distributed family care kits to 2000 local Thai families.

While the distribution was a part of the 'Sewa Day' organized by Bangkok city unit of HSS, the family care kit consisted of rice, cooking oil, noodles, milk powder, soap, detergentand sanitizers. Vijay Sharma, Sanghachalak of HSS Thailand in his address said that or centuries, the Indian community in Thailand live in harmony with the Thai society.

He appreciated the efforts taken by HSS to support the local community and said thatthe basic principles of Hinduism and Buddhism are same and both religions teach to act with love and compassion towards those living in poverty so that all people have the necessities to survive without suffering.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Kumar, Karyavah of HSS Thailand said that swayamsevaks are extending their support to Thai community from the day of reporting the first covid case in the Kingdom. "Cotton masks were distributed in large numbers at various places in Bangkok city", he said.

"Earlier family care kits were distributed at four different provinces. 200 families in each province, selected by the local authorities got benefited. Viswa Hindu Parishad Association of Thailand distributed 5 kilogram of rice each to 5000 people in 9 districts of Bangkok province", he adde in presence of Dr Phatcharapom Champalat, social worker, who participated in the event as the Chief Guest. Sushil Dhanuka, Vice President of Viswa Hindu parishad Thailand and Satish Pawa, President of Ram Krishna Mission Thailand were also present.
