Air Force to conduct flypast shower flowers on hospitals treating COVID patients

New Delhi, May 2: In order to salute all the Corona warriors who have put efforts to curb the coronavirus, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat said the Air Force will conduct flypasts from Srinagar to Thiruvananthapuram and another from Dibrugarh in Assam to Kutch in Gujarat and showering flower petals on the hospitals treating Covid patients on May 3.

CDS thanked "all Corona Warriors be it Doctors, Nurses, other health workers, hygiene and sanitation staff, police personnel, media personnel and all Indians for a remarkable effort in this unprecedented fight," in a press conference. It was attended accompanied by Chief of the Indian Army General Manoj Mukund Naravane, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, and Indian Air Force chief R.K.S. Bhadauria.
 
CDS stated, "To show the solidarity of the frontline soldiers with the Corona Warriors some activities shall be undertaken by the Armed Forces on 03 May 20. On Sunday, the armed forces will be organising multiple events like flypast by fighter and transport aircrafts of the IAF from Srinagar to Thiruvanthapuram, and from Dibrugaarh to Kacchh. The helicopters from IAF and IN shall be showering flower petals on the Hospitals treating Covid patients."
 
Even the Navy and ICG will be participating in this initiative. They will be moving ships in formations at sea at selected locations while Army bands shall visit COVID hospitals and play tunes outside the hospitals in an expression of gratitude to the Corona Warriors. "To honour their effort, all three service Chiefs shall be laying wreath at the Police Memorial on the morning of 3rd May 2020, " said the CDS for the contribution of the police personnel who have made an exceptional and heroic effort in this crisis.
 
CDS even lauded the citizens who have followed all the guildelines of the government due to which situation is not severe in India compared to other countries in the world. "The commendable restraint shown by our citizens in strictly adhering to all laid down instructions have ensured that the country is well on its way to 'flatten the curve' and has fared much better than most countries globally," he added.
 
CDS assured by saying, "that the armed forces are fighting COVID-19 according to two principles: Force Preservation and Assistance to Civil Authorities. While replying to a query, he added that not even one soldier, sailor or airman in the frontline is affected and that Armed Forces are fully prepared for all challenges." Even the Air Chief stated that not even one case of Covid has been reported in the force and that the guard is up to keep the same.
 
On the other hand, Army Chief General Manoj Naravane said there has been an increase in numbers of people trying to cross the LoC and that is why the increase in the number of infiltration attempts. "We will not lower our guard in counter-terrorism operations due to COVID-19. The terrorists killed in operations are handed over to civil administration and they do the needful."
