DGCA suspends domestic, international flights till 17 May

New Delhi, May 02: Following the lockdown 3.0 announcement, Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Saturday has decided to extend the domestic and international passenger flight suspension till May 17. However, this restriction will not apply to international cargo flights and flights specifically approved by the DGCA.

"Given the decision by the government to continue the lockdown up to 17th May 2020, prohibiting domestic passenger flight operations, has been further extended up to 2359 hours IST on 17 May 2020," aviation regulator DGCA said.
 
 
"However, it is reiterated that foreign and domestic airlines shall be suitably informed about the opening of their operations whether international to/from India or domestic respectively in due course," the DGCA circular said. It has also been decided to extend scheduled international commercial passenger services till May 17, the regulator added.
 
On Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued fresh guidelines, under which, all the domestic and international air travel, movement of trains, metro, and inter-state buses for public transport, except those permitted by the MHA, will be prohibited.
 
Under the new lockdown guidelines, all domestic and international air travel of passengers barring for medical, security, and other purposes permitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs has been prohibited in the Red zones, Orange zones, and Green zones.
