Anaj Bank gives Id Gift packets to triple talaq survivors

Varanasi, May 21: The plight of triple talaq survivor Muslim women is pitiable. They are driven out of their houses by their husbands and left to fend for them and also to look after their children. The majority of them are poor and the coronavirus lockdown has further added to their woes. With the festival of Ramadan Id approaching, they were perplexed as to how to celebrate this happy festival.

It is here the Anaj Bank, run by Vishal Bharat Sansthan (VBS) came to their rescue by distributing the ‘Indresh Id Potli’ containing food items and ‘sevai’ considered important for Id.

In an impressive function held at VBS on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner (Industry) Virendra Kumar distributed the packets to the victims of triple talaq. The program was held in Lemhi village where famous celebrated Hindi litterateur Munshi Prem Chand lived once and wrote his famous short story Ídgaah’. The Vishal Bharat Sansthan is located in the vicinity of his house. Drawing inspiration from his writings, the Anaj Bank is trying to bring smiles to their faces.

Sabina is one such triple talaq victim living with her three children. She had great expectations from Indresh Kumar under whose leadership she and many of the triple talaq victims fought for their legitimate place and rights in the society and won the battle. She telephoned Indresh Kumar narrating her plight and appealed for some help so that they can celebrate the Id with their children bringing happiness to them.

Indresh Kumar asked Dr. Rajiv Shrivastava, Chairman of VBS to make arrangements for distributing food packets to these triple talaq survivors so that they can happily celebrate the Id.

From day one of the lockdown, the Anaj Bank has busied itself in supplying food to the poor people in Varanasi by running a 24x7 kitchen and in the past 58 days they have catered their services to as many as 58,000 families.

Acting on Indresh Kumar’s advice, the Anaj Bank prepared the Ïndresh Id Potli” containing food items and ‘sevai’ to be distributed among the triple talaq survivors. Indresh Kumar launched this unique Id Gift to them online. On this occasion Deputy Commissioner (Industry) Virendra Kumar gave away the gift to five women as a token of launching the scheme.

Shahnaz, Sabina, Medina, and many others never imagined that they would receive such a gift on the occasion of Id. And their joy was boundless when a separate packet was given for their children.

Virendra Kumar praised the efforts of Anaj Bank and said that helping triple talaq survivors is a very touching event. Now these women and their children can also happily celebrate the festival of Id is a very assuring and historical job the Anaj Bank did.

Indresh Kumara said that the inhuman custom of triple talaq had made the life of the Muslim women a hell. Now they can live a respectable life and the Anaj Bank will continue to help them in the future also.

VBS Chairman Dr.Rajiv Shrivastava said that they tried to help these women who are struggling with life and tried to bring happiness in their life. Anaj Bank will always help them, he assured.

Chairman of Muslim Mahila Foundation Nazneen Ansari also assured help to these talaq victims in legal and other matters so that they can get back their status in the society and lead a respectful life.

The Anaj Bank continued to serve the poor families in Varanasi ever since the lockdown was declared 58 days ago and distributed 58000 food packets in this period. The bank is running a 24x7 community kitchen and served the food packets with the battery of 50 dedicated workers. They prepared 2.28 lakh rotis for distribution.

Besides, the Bank also served soup for expecting mothers, milk for children, and khichdi for elderly persons. 3000 children were given Ïndresh Bal Potli”, 410 Rojdars were supplied with Ïndresh ROjedar Potli”, 100 Kinnars were given Ïndresh Samman Potli”, “Pepsico Seva Potli” was distributed amongst 1000 policemen, 500 sanitation workers, 100 health workers, 100 social workers, and 50 media persons. Ïndresh Id Potli” is given to 100 triple talaq survivor Muslim women.

The Anaj Bank has set up its control rooms in New Delhi, and Varanasi. It has distributed the work in seven departments such as food management, coordination, kitchen management, packet making, distribution, computer, and social media. 15 children are also included in their team of workers. A food packet consists of 260 gm rice, 260 gm vegetable curry, 100 gm dal, and 240 gm rotis. This service will continue till the last day of the lockdown, Dr. Shrivastava said.

The Anaj Bank honored those workers who offered their services in this noble mission continuing for the last 58 days. They included 13 women workers who worked in the 24x7 community kitchen and prepared 2.28 lakh rotis and made 57000 food packets distributed by the “Bhojan Doot” of the Anaj Bank. Anaj Bank MD Archana Bharatvanshi was felicitated for best management and Atma Prakash was honored for best coordination. Others who were honored included Punam Shrivastava, Maina Devi, Urmila Patel, Sunita Shrivastava, Sarot Patel, Lilawati, Prabhavti, Parvati Devi, Archana Shrivastava, Priyanka Shrivastava, Kisuna Devi, Gita Devi, and Ramta Shrivastva.
