Jhingan, who has earned 36 caps for India since making his debut in 2015 is the most-capped player for Kerala Blasters. Having said that, Blasters officials have mutually agreed to part ways ahead of the upcoming ISL season,
according to reports.

“Yes, Sandesh is no longer with the club. It was under mutual agreement,” the source was quoted saying.

His absence is a disadvantage for the Kerala Blasters. However, his departure could mean that any team would love to have a defender like Jhingan.

The 26-year-old Jhingan has played a significant role at the center of Blasters’ defense since the start in 2014. Due to his physical strength, aerial ability, and willingness to put the body on the line led the club in reaching the ISL final twice (2014 and 2016).

The Chandigarh-born Jhingan who is a hugely popular figure for the Blasters’ fans has made 76 appearances for the club. He, however, missed the whole of the 2019-20 ISL season due to an injury. Due to his absence, the Blasters was placed seventh out of 10 teams.

On the other hand, Kerala Blasters had appointed Mohun Bagan’s I-League winning coach Kibu Vicuna for the upcoming season sparking hopes of potential coaching revolution. However, his departure could be a setback for the coach as well as for the team.

The replacement would likely be Sahal Abdul Samad who is another phenomenal player and one of the favorites of the Yellow Army. Due to his performance including his brilliant footwork staged in the 2018-2019 season, he won the Young Player of the Year both the ISL and the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
