India-Israel join hands to develop Rapid Testing Tools for COVID-19

New Delhi, May 26: In a major development, health experts from India and Israel are going to work jointly to develop life-changing Rapid testing tools for COVID-19 that will provide the results within minutes or second, the Indian Embassy stated on Monday. They are going to develop that tool using big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

Embassy of India in Israel stated that the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research held discussions with Head of Israel's Directorate of Research and development, Israel's Ambassador Ron Malka & India's Ambassador Sanjeev Singla about high-level scientific cooperation to address COVID-19.
 
 
The discussion was part of the vision for wide-ranging scientific cooperation between the two countries. Indian institutions like the defense research and development organization (Drdo) and the council for scientific and industrial research (CSIR) will be collaborating with Israel’s Directorate of Research & Development in the Ministry of Defence for the high-level scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions were also attended by Israel Ambassador to India Dr. Ron Malka and Indian ambassador to Israel Sanjeev Singla and officials of CSIR and DRDO. Principal scientific adviser to the prime minister Dr. K. Vijayraghavan was also part of the discussions between the two sides. The discussion is the first of a series of meetings that will take place over the coming weeks to exchange technology and scientific know-how to combat the virus.
 
 
Earlier, Israel had announced the successful development of a monoclonal antibody that has the potential to neutralize the SARS-CoV2 virus. Israel’s Defence Ministry had stated that the country’s premier biological laboratory had completed the development phase of the COVID-19 antibody.
 
India had collaborated with Israel over R&D efforts about fields like quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The two nations share the strategic and military ties that extend to sharing intelligence on terrorist groups as well as joint military training. The two countries have also been negotiating an extensive bilateral free trade agreement that focuses on areas such as biotechnology, Information technology, and agriculture.
