Rajnath Singh Reviews Bilateral Defence Co-operation with his US counterpart

New Delhi, May 30: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a telephonic conversation with US Defence Secretary Dr Mark T Esper reviewed progress on various bilateral defence cooperation arrangements. The conversation came amid the escalating tension between India and China after several areas along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh and North Sikkim have witnessed major military build-up by both the Indian and Chinese armies recently.

Firstly, both the ministers briefed each other on the respective experience of fighting the coronavirus pandemic. They vowed to continue the excellent bilateral cooperation in combating the virus.
 
Later on, the ministers reviewed progress on various bilateral defence cooperation arrangements and expressed their commitment to further promote our defence partnership. They also exchanged views on regional developments of shared security interest.
 
On the other hand, Singh appreciated Secretary Esper's condolences over lives lost in Eastern India during Cyclone Amphan recently and briefed him on India’s relief efforts.
 
In the end, Rajnath Singh invited Secretary Esper to visit India at the earliest mutual convenience and the latter accepted with pleasure.
