Eight die due to gas leak in Visakhapatnam polymer factory

Visakhapatnam, May 7: At least eight persons died and hundreds have taken ill due to gas leakage from a polymer factory at Gopalapatnam on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh in the early hours today.

The leakage took place at the L. G. Polymer plant when the workers were preparing for the opening of the plant in the early hours today.

Hundreds of unconscious persons and those suffering from breathing problems were shifted to the King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam. The gas leakage has mostly affected by the gas leak. According to an official at King George Hospital the death toll is likely to increase.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken immediate cognizance of this accident and said that he had spoken to the Ministry of Home Affairs and National Disaster Management Authority (NMDA) and the situation is being monitored closely. Modi has also spoken to the state chief minister assuring him all the support and assistance.
