Army Chief visits Eastern Ladakh, takes stock of forward areas

Leh, June 25: In the wake of the brutal clash in Galwan Valley between India and China, Army Chief General MM Naravane visited forward areas in Eastern Ladakh and reviewed the operational preparedness in the forward areas of this sector.

His visit came after the rising tensions that occurred in the Eastern Ladakh region including in Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley, and Gogra Hot Spring between India and China. Meanwhile, several top Army officials were present with him including Lieutenant General Harinder Singh, a statement read.
 
 
 
The Army Chief was briefed about the on-ground situation and the preparedness arranged by the Indian Army. He had a conversation with the troops deployed there and lauded them for their steadfastness and high morale following brutal clash that took place along the Line of Actual of Control (LAC) in Galwan Valley where 20 Indian soldiers martyred.
 
The Army Chief is on a two-day visit to Ladakh in order to review the current situation and the progress including the high-level talks that took place between the Corps commanders of the two countries that went on for over 11 hours following the violent face-off. On his visit, he interacted with Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal.
 
During his visit, he went to the Army hospital and conversed with gallant Indian soldiers who were injured in the clash in Galwan Valley and are undergoing treatment. He even ‘Commendation Cards’ to five Indian Army soldiers for displaying exemplary grit and courage in dealing with Chinese troops in two separate clashes in Pangong lake and Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh.
