It is this time we introspect ourselves that to what extent do we believe in our culture, our tradition and the very own Indian civilization. Patanjali's tall claim to have found a cure for 'coronavirus' has done anything but forced people debate about the authenticity and credibilty of the medicine kit 'Coronil'. The company also claims that the report of patients suffering from the coronavirus will be negative in just seven days.

This further claim by Baba further raised a lot many questions. How can Ayurveda be a universal cure? Is the medicine clinically tested? Why did Baba play documents while getting approval?.. and so on and so forth. Coronil is the first 'Made in India' Ayurvedic medicine for treating COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It has been developed jointly by Patanjali Research Institute and National Institute of Medical Science (Jaipur).

As many as 500 scientists of Patanjali have toiled hard to find the cure where the trials of the ayurvedic medicine were conducted on patients across the country including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Meerut, and other cities. The medicine as claimed has been developed using ingredients like Giloi, Ashwagandha, Tulsi. How does presece of the significant ayurvedic ingredients make Coronil to not improve the body's internal immunity and fight other coronavirus symptoms like fever, cough, cold?

Ayurveda has been a major part of the Indian Civilization. Instead of promting and appreciating the efforts by Patanjali who are we to rubbish the claims without actually having learnt about the trails and tests with 'Coronil'? The company claims that about 69% infected coronavirus patients tested negative in just three days while 100 percent patients recovered in a week. At least 35% COVID-19 patients who were not administered coronil did not test negative.

Swami Ramdev further claimed that zero percent death rate was observed during the clinical trials of Coronil Ayurvedic medicine. While the company is to release the evidences in the next 4-5 days, the AYUSH Ministry (where A in AYUSH stands for Ayurveda) is taking a back hand to approve the medicine? About the approval, the Allopathy medicine 'Favipiravir' by Glenmark got a green signal for production without the third phase of the clinical trial. The homeopathy medicine 'Arsenicum Album 30' also got a green go as a preventive against COVID-19, although these two are not the cure for COVID-19. Then why not Patanjali's 'Coronil' kit?

The kit contains Coronil tablet, Swasari Vati and a oil named Anu tel. Patanjali prescribed, "2-2 tablets should be consumed with hot water half an hour after meals. The medicine intake and quantity is suitable for people between 15 to 80 years of age. Half the amount of medicines can be used for children between the age of 6 to 14 years." According to Patanjali, the other two medicines to be taken along with Coronil are 'Shwasari' which works on strengthening the respiratory system and cures the obvious symptoms of corona including cough, cold and fever and a nasal drop named 'Anu Tel' which helps build immunity. It further noted that these should be consumed only after consulting a doctor.

It is on one hand we say to promote 'Made In India' projects and when it happens we pop up our heads to question! Why are we Indians so not fair to we Indians? Why we see ourselves more vulnerable than actually we are? Why we do nothing but keep demeaning the Indian way of medication? Patanjali has been serving and fulfiling the Hindu Right wish of mainstreaming Ayurveda as an alternate system of medicine. When Homepathy, Allopathy trials can be approved, should Baba Ramdev change the color code he wears to get the medicine clinically approved as a 'preventive' against COVID-19? We need to heavily think upon!
