Mumbai, June 26: Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's last film, Dil Bechara will be released on straight OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar, on July 24. In order to pay tribute and honor the legacy of the actor, the streaming platform is making the movie available even for the non-subscribers.

The film's director Mukesh Chhabra penned a heartwarming note," Sushant was not just the hero of my debut film as a director but he was a dear friend who stood by me through thick and thin. We had been close right from Kai Po Che to Dil Bechara. He had promised me that he would be in my first film. So many plans were made together, so many dreams were dreamt together but never once did I ever imagine that I would be releasing this film without him.

"There can be no better way to celebrate him and his talent. He always showered immense love on me while I was making it and his love will guide us as we release it. And I'm glad that the Producers have made it available for everyone to watch. We are going to love and celebrate you, my friend. I can visualize you with your beautiful smile blessing us from up above. Love you, " further he added.

"Dil Bechara" is the official remake of the 2014 Hollywood romantic drama "The Fault in our Stars", based on John Green's popular novel of the same name, which describes love amid terminal illness, and happiness blended with positivity amid the most painful medical treatments. More important it makes you think about how valuable love is, how short life can be, and how just one person can change your life in the most simple way.

Dil Bechara was originally slated to hit theatres in May this year. However, the film could not release on time as theatres have been shut following the government's instructions amid the COVID 19 lockdown.

Dil Bechara marks the directorial debut of casting director Mukesh Chhabra as well as actress Sanjana Sanghi acting debut through the film. The film will see Saif Ali Khan in a cameo. It also stars Sahil Vaid, Swastika Mukherjee, Saswata Chatterjee, Jaaved Jaaferi, among others. AR Rahman and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya have lent a soulful musical rendition to the film.

Sushant died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Bandra residence on June 14. Sushant's last theatrical release was Nitesh Tiwari's ‘Chhichhore’ in 2019.
