Nepal Information and Broadcasting Minister Yuba Raj Khativada have alleged that Indian media that they are damaging the image of our country and Nepal would seek “legal and political against a section of the Indian media” for its “insulting and baseless allegations” against Oli.

"The government holds full rights to seek remedies against those Indian media responsible for damaging the image of our country, and the nationality, sovereignty, and dignity of the Nepali people. We request not to disseminate news that infringes sovereignty and self-respect of Nepalis. This includes the media of neighboring countries. We might seek both political and legal remedies," he added.

Hours later, Dhruba Sharma of Mega Max TV, a Channel operator of Nepal confirmed "We have turned off the signals of the Indian Channels from this evening," Nepal’s foreign minister Pradeep Gyawali said the Nepalese envoy in Delhi, Nilamber Acharya, has taken up the issue with senior officials of India’s Ministry of External Affairs. Acharya has been quoted as saying that such “objectionable and deplorable reports harm age-old ties between the two countries”.

The moves come amid tensions between India and Nepal has risen after Kathmandu issued a new map incorporating some portions of Indian territories. This is not the first time that Katmandu has blacked out Indian media. Earlier in 2015 when relations hit rock-bottom after a blockade at India-Nepal border Nepal had blocked Indian news and entertainment channels.
