Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan tests positive for COVID-19

Mumbai, July 12: Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan on Saturday tested positive for novel coronavirus and were admitted to the Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai. Both the actors revealed this news via Twitter Saturday night.

Amitabh Bachchan said in a tweet, "I have tested COVID positive. Shifted to Hospital. Family and staff undergone tests, results awaited. All that has been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested." The actor also urged all who came in contact with him to get themselves tested.
 
 
 
The Rapid Antigen tests were conducted on both Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan after both the actors show mild symptoms However Jaya Bachchan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has tested negative for coronavirus in the antigen test conducted yesterday. They have been under isolation at the bungalow. Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan's daughter Aaradhya Bachchan's swab samples have been collected by the authorities for COVID-19 tests. The reports are expected to come later in the day.
 
Nanavati Hospital has informed that both Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan are in stable condition with their oxygen level normal. The hospital authorities have released a statement for the media on Sunday morning saying, Mr. Amitabh Bacchan is stable with mild symptoms and is currently admitted in the isolation unit at Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai. He has confirmed that he will keep updating via Twitter."
 
Speaking about the actor's condition, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, " I don't have any official update. Trying to get in touch with the hospital and family. Wishing him good health. I am sure they will be alright and will come home soon".
 
All the staff members inside Bachchan residence had undergone the tests for the virus. The staff was gone under isolation. The results of the same are expected later on Sunday.
 
Besides that the dubbing studio in Mumbai, which was recently visited by Abhishek Bachchan for his web series Breathe: Into The Shadows, has been temporarily closed after the actor tested positive for COVID-19.
 
The BMC officials are expected to reach Bollywood superstar's bungalow Jalsa by 10 AM on Sunday morning to sanitize it. The landmark bungalow in Juhu has also been declared a containment zone by BMC officials.
 
Within minutes of Amitabh's post, Bollywood celebrities including Rajkumar Rao, Anupam Kher, Bhumi Pednekar, and others extended their prayers and wish to Amitabh Bachchan for a speedy recovery after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
