According to the Chief researcher Elena Smolyarchuk, "The research has been completed and it proved that the vaccine is safe. The volunteers will be discharged on July 15 and July 20, and they will remain under medical supervision on an out-patient basis after being sent home."

The first stage of human trials of a vaccine began on June 18 produced by Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. A group of 18 volunteers was vaccinated in the first stage of human trials. The second group of 20 volunteers were vaccinated on June 23.

The volunteers are males and females, aged 18 to 65 who in the clinical study at Sechenov University received a lyophilized vaccine—a powder from which a solution is prepared for intramuscular injection. Some participants of the trial experienced headaches and elevated body temperature, however, these symptoms resolved completely within 24 hours after vaccine administration. After that, all volunteers were expected to remain in isolation in a hospital for 28 days.

As per the university the first vaccine, in the form of a solution for intramuscular administration was carried out at the Burdenko Military Hospital. Another vaccine, in the form of a powder for the preparation of a solution for intramuscular administration, was carried out at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
