Blackwood's 95 assists West Indies to earn historic win against England

Southampton (UK), July 13: West Indies booked a historic win against England after defeating them by four wickets and took the lead by 1-0 lead in the three-match series in England. This is the second time since 2000 that West Indies have won a Test on English soil.

Restarting the match on day 5 from 284/8, England's Jofra Archer and Mark Wood struggled but managed to take England score to 313 after they were dismissed by Shanon Gabriel one after one ending England's innings and setting a target of 200 runs for West Indies.
 
 
Batting their second innings, the opening batsmen Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell failed to have a steady partnership as the latter was retired hurt in the fourth over. However, Brathwaite did not manage last on the crease as he scored only before getting caught. On the other hand, Sharam Brooks was also sent back to pavilion on a duck by Archer who looking in a good form whereas England was dominant as they also dismissed Shai Hope.
 
Then came Jermaine Blackwood on the field. He along with Roston Chase gave hosts the momentum to stick on the field, forming a 73-run partnership. However, once again came Archer who pressurized Chase and took his wicket but Blackwood continued to score runs for the visitors, and completed his half-century. He along with Shane Dowrich formed a 68-run partnership. Their partnership did not last long as the England skipper Ben Stokers took both their wickets.
 
When Campbell who was retired hurt came back and joined Jason Holder, both of them assured that they register a victory and crossed the line to take up the lead over England by four wickets.
