'Zero Tolerance' warns Army Chief on ceasefire violations, terrorists infiltration by Pak

Jammu, July 13: The Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane firmly asserted that there will be "zero tolerance" against the ceasefire violations by Pakistan and attempts by terrorists to infiltrate from across the border. In order to take stock of the situation and the operational preparedness of Indian Army troops deployed along the border with Pakistan, the Army Chief visited here.

According to the reports, Pakistani forces, till now, have carried out as 2,542 unprovoked ceasefire violations till June 30. Though these concerns are being shared, the Pakistan forces have not ceased such activities.
 
"The COAS (chief of army staff) reinstated the fact of ‘zero tolerance’ against the ceasefire violations by Pakistan and infiltration attempts by terrorists," Defence spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand said in a statement.
 
The Army Chief also threw some light on all agencies of the services and government working together relentlessly and is continuing to do the same to defeat the nefarious design of proxy war being fueled by our adversaries. He was briefed by senior commanders on the security situation when he reached the Jammu-Pathankot region, the Army officials said. He also visited the forward areas of the Gurj Division and was briefed by Maj Gen YP Khanduri, GOC Gurj Division.
 
"The Army Chief addressed all ranks of Western Command through video conferencing and lauded the morale of the troops. He expressed complete confidence in the Indian Army’s capabilities to thwart any misadventure by the enemies of our country and handle any situation," the spokesperson said.
 
 
India is strongly protesting, through diplomatic channels, against the continued unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan forces along the Line of Control and the International Boundary which has killed over 14 Indians, wounded 88 in 2020 so far, sources said on Friday.
 
"We have registered our strong protest at the continued unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan forces along the Line of Control and the International Boundary which are in contravention to the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding," the sources said.
