'India Can Attract Global Supply Chains Away From China' says Mike Pompeo

Washington DC, July 23: "India has a chance and they can attract global supply chains away from China and reduce its reliance on Chinese companies as India, has earned the trust of many nations around the world, including that of the United States", United States' Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said while addressing at the India Ideas Summit hosted by the US India Business Council (USIBC).

During the virtual keynote, Pompeo said, "India and US are great democracies and good friends and it's important for such democracies to work together as they realize the challenges posed by the Chinese Communist Party revealing that India is one of his few trusted nations whose leaders he regularly calls for counsel and deliberations."
 
 
Further, he said that the US is working with India to enhance the Blue Dot Network and said that India needs to be open to trade. And he believes this is a new age of relationship between US & India. While speaking about India-China face Off in Galwan valley Pompeo said that the recent clashes initiated by PLA are examples of CCP's unacceptable behavior. He also urged that India should reduce reliance on Chinese companies in areas like telecom, medical supplies among others.
 
Mike Pompeo also described India as an important partner and a key pillar of President Donald Trump's foreign policy. He also lauded India for banning 59 Chinese apps including TikTok and called the CCP a threat to both India and the US. He also asserted that the United States has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the next G7 Summit to advance the international prosperity network.
 
The Minister of Foreign Affairs S Jaishankar also addressed the virtual summit where he highlighted the importance of shaping a larger agenda while strengthening bilateral agenda. He also suggested that the United States needs to learn to work with a more multipolar world with more plurilateral arrangements and go beyond alliances with which it really has grown up over the last 2 generations.
 
The EAM highlighted how both countries are working together on maritime security, climate change, counter-terrorism, COVID-19 crisis, connectivity, and explained, how the American administrations have been engaging with countries like India more effectively.
