IPL 2020 to begin on September 19!

New Delhi, July 24: Cricket fans get ready as the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on September 19 in the UAE and continue till November 8, confirmed the IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel on Friday.

"The fans will enjoy the full tournament from September 19 to November 8 and further course of action will be discussed with the franchises in the Governing Council meeting," Patel noted.
 
The stage of the event comes as the ICC Men's T20 World Cup by the International Cricket Council (ICC) was postpone which provided the much-needed window to conduct this year's IPL.
 
 
Scheduling of the IPL 2020 edition, the training camp for players, and discussion over the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) are among the topics which will be discussed in the upcoming IPL Governing Council meeting.
 
According to the reports, the SOP for teams and bio bubble training facilities, shifting of the tournament, its schedule and format and training camp, travel, and stay will be discussed during IPL GC meeting. Other discussions also include are operational aspects, DXB app to download for players and officials, and discussion on issues related to the broadcaster.
 
 
There are possibilities that the IPL franchises might be leaving base by August 20 as every team needs at least a month's time to train so that they can have four weeks' time to prepare. 
 
Originally, IPL 2020 was supposed to kcik start from March 29 but the tournament was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
