A French Air Force A330 MRTT aircraft equipped with a “Morpheus” kit will land today with high-quality ventilators as well as test & serological kits. The Ambassador said the country is not just giving medical equipment to India but also sharing technical expertise.

The French Air Force will deliver the equipment on 28 July. The equipment and the personnel are being transported on a French Air Force A330 MRTT equipped with a “Morpheus” kit, which enables the transport of critically ill patients. The medical assistance package includes 50 Osiris-3 ventilators, which are portable and easy to use, and 70 Yuwell 830 ventilators with “bilevel positive airway pressure” (BiPAP mode), which are non-invasive hospital ventilators for mild Covid-19 patients.

Osiris 3 is used to monitor the patient's respiratory rate. It also provides the emergency department team access to adjustable inspiratory trigger, adjustable I/E ratio, ACMV, and a tachypnea alarm. Meanwhile, the Yuwell 830 ventilators use BiPAP to supply oxygen to the lungs without intubation.

Besides that France is also donating 50,000 high-quality serological IgG/IgM test kits and 50,000 nose and throat swabs and modes of medical transport to India. Ministry of External Affair's Official Spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava thanks Frace president Emmanuel Macron and the people of France for the solidarity and support extended to India in our fight against COVID-19. He also added that Together we shall prevail.

Earlier, he said, "India has provided much-needed equipment and drugs to French hospitals. Friendship is a two-way road and France has reciprocated." France had earlier extended financial support of 200 million euros to India through the French Development Agency (AFD) to boost social welfare systems and protect vulnerable people. Several French firms are also partnering with Indian companies for producing essential medical equipment, such as masks, sanitizers, medicines, ICU beds, ventilators.
