India's Ban on Chinese Apps Irks China; Asks India To Correct 'Wrongdoings' Of Banning it

New Delhi, July 29: Calling India's ban on Chinese apps a "deliberate interference", China lodged a diplomatic protest against India's recent decision and warned India saying it should correct "wrongdoings" of banning 59 Chinese mobile apps in the country.

The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy, Counselor Ji Rong said, "we have noted the relevant reports. On June 29, the Indian government banned 59 mobile apps with Chinese background including WeChat, which severely damaged the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. And the move taken by the Indian side to ban the Chinese apps has damaged the rights of Chinese Companies and that India should correct its wrongdoings adding that Beijing will take measures to protect the interests of its companies."
 
Practical cooperation between India and China was mutually beneficial and Deliberate interference in such cooperation will not serve the interests of the Indian side she said adding that China will also take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
 
"I want to reiterate that the Chinese government consistently asks Chinese enterprises to abide by international rules and local laws and regulations when conducting external cooperation. The Indian government has the responsibility to protect the legitimate rights and interests of international investors in India, including Chinese businesses, in accordance with market principles," Ji further said.
 
The protest from The Chinese side has a day after India decided to ban 47 more Chinese apps on Monday. The government is expected to release the list of 47 new apps that have been banned soon. Besides that India has also prepared a list of over 250 Chinese apps, including apps linked to Alibaba, that it will examine for any user privacy or national security violations. The list also includes Tencent-backed gaming app PUBG.
