New Delhi, July 07: In order to construct infrastructure along the Line of Control (LAC) and Line of Actual Control (LoC) favoring the Indian Army, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the ongoing projects with Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Chief Lt Gen Harpal Singh and senior officials here on Tuesday.

Lt Gen Harpal Singh briefed the Defence Minister about the current projects on LAC with China and LoC with Pakistan. The briefing went on for more than an hour.

Meanwhile, the BRO chief assured that "it would not leave any stone unturned to complete these projects. He stated that all ministries including Defence, Home, and Transport are co-operating to complete the projects as soon as possible.

The main reason to improve the infrastructure comes as the tensions heightened with China following a brutal clash on June 15-16. The BRO has already completed the work on the 255 Km-long strategic Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldie (DSDBO) road.

It runs parallel to LAC that passes through altitude ranging between 13,000 ft and 16,000 ft connecting Ladakh’s capital city Leh, through the villages of Darbuk and Shyok at southern Shyok Valley, with the Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) post near the China border. The strategic road which has now caused worry for the Chinese, is actually not new but large segments have been realigned and rebuilt by the BRO.
In certain areas of Eastern Ladakh, there have been few face-offs due to which the work has been paced up to increase patrolling. The decision to make a faster improvement of faster strategic infrastructure was when the Modi government gave a go-ahead. One of the first decisions of the government was to issue a general approval in July 2014 for the creation of a road network by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) within 100 km of aerial distance from LAC.
