Mumbai, Aug 1: The streaming giant Netflix on Saturday finally dropped the trailer of the much-awaited film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The trailer shows Gunjan Saxena breaking every stereotype to finally chase and fulfill her dreams. It shows the struggle of a woman making her own space in the man’s world.

The trailer shows the journey of a young girl who’s fascinated by planes and wants to become a pilot. While her mother and Army brother are surely skeptical about it, apart from her father who encourages her to achieve her dream. "Whether a woman or a man fly the plane, they are called pilots,” he simplifies it for his passionate daughter. He also encourages her saying "jo log mehnat ka Saath nahi chodhte, kismat Kabhi unka haath nhi chodhti."
 
 
However, in spite of not having women's toilets and other facilities, to being made to feel weak because of her gender, despite all the things, Gunjan through her dedication soars her dream and plays an important role in 1999 Kargil War between India and Pakistan. She works hard to carve a niche for herself in the defense forces which are dominated by men, with many against the idea of a woman joining their ranks. She became the first Indian female pilot in combat.
The movie is a biopic based on the life of Indian Air force pilot Gunjan Saxena. She made history when she became the first Indian woman in combat during the Kargil War. She, along with Flight Lieutenant Srividya Rajan, flew the Cheetah helicopters for casualty evacuation and reconnaissance for which they often flew very close to Pakistani positions.
 
The actors' performance in the trailer will leave you impressed. Apart from Janhvi Kapoor the film also stars Angad Bedi, Manav Vij, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajat Barmecha, Neena Gupta, and Vijay Varma in pivotal roles.
 
Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film is produced by Karan Johar under his home banner Dharma Productions. The film's shoot was wrapped up in December last year. Since theatres remain shut due to the novel coronavirus crisis, the makers opted for a digital release of the film.
