'Deepotsav' in Ayodhya! Over 1.25 lakhs diyas shine to celebrate ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ceremony!

Ayodhya, Aug 5: To add the celebrations of Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of Ram Mandir here today, more than 1.25 lakhs diyas (earthern lamps) were lit up. On the eve of the auspicious event, the city is glittering with diyas lit by sages on the bank of Saryu river and residents outside their houses.
 
Almost, every temple in the city has been decorated. The puja ceremony has already begun with a special offering to Lord Hanuman at Hanumangarhi Mandir as a part of an old Hindu tradition of ‘Nishaa Puja’. The ghats of Saryu river decorated with Diyas and lights adorning the walls running parallel to the Saryu river whereas Ram Ki Paidi was illuminated ahead of the ground-breaking ceremony.

The residents of Ayodhya and the administration have planned to mark August 5 like the festival Diwali, which is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Ram, along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman, from exile; as many as 1.25 lakh earthen lamps are also to be lit here today.
 
It is being said that Ayodhya's Jaisinghpur Vidya Kund village had taken the order to make 1.25 lakh diyas. According to Ram Kishore Prajapati, the village had received an order for about 1.25 lakh earthen lamps. "On the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Ram Mandir, we have been given an order for the diyas. We have distributed the work among the 40 families in the village so that the order would be fulfilled on time. We have almost finished making all the diyas, and we are glad that we have been given a work opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic," Prajapati had said to a private media.
 
Along with Ayodhya, the Lucknow bungalow and offices of the chief minister, his ministerial colleagues as well the party offices and those held by senior party functionaries and cadres would be also be lit up. Besides Uttar Pradesh, potters from Maharashtra and Rajasthan, have contacted Prajapati and expressed the desire to be associated with the Ram temple event.
 
Since 2017, an estimated 1.7 lakh earthen lamps were lit up on the banks of the Saryu river, to 2019 and when Ayodhya made it to the Guinness records with 5.5 lakh earthen lamps lit up at the same time with the ‘deepotsav’ has been getting bigger each Diwali. However, this time, deepotsav is being celebrated a few months ahead of Diwali.
