The publication ceremony of the book 'Making of a Hindu Patriot' took place at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat. Various scholars, academicians and social thinkers marked their presence at the event. While addressing the event, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat shared his views about Gandhiji's concept of patriotism.

He said, "Gandhiji said that my patriotism originates from my religion. I will understand my religion and become a good patriot and inspire others to do the same."

Dr. Bhagwat mentioned the fact that Gandhiji has written a lot of literature, but he became an example of what he wrote and practiced it to the core. He stated that for Gandhiji the fight for independent India was not limited to a change expected in the political authority of the nation but for him it was a fight to rebuild India entirely.

The Sarsanghachalak stressed on the same thought put forth by Gandhiji and said that "In order to understand what Swaraj is, we need to understand what 'Swadharma' is? Until we don't understand Swadharma, we cannot understand Gandhiji's Swaraj." He further remarked that the relevance of Gandhiji's thoughts is more in today's time, which is why "we should follow his life and thoughts."

He appealed the people present at the event to teach others in the society to follow the religious conduct and instill in the people a sense of affinity towards all religions, and said that "Only then will Gandhiji's dream of Swaraj come true."

Minister of State for Culture Prahlad Singh Patel said at the event that "I have tried to read and live Gandhiji as per my ability." He stated that the context and the timing of the book is significant and congratulated the authors about the release.
