India-Uzbekistan cooperation in Solar sector gets 'a final go'

New Delhi, Jan 20: The Union Cabinet was advised of signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Uzbekistan for cooperation in the field of Solar Energy. The main area of work under the MoU is to identify research, demonstration and initiation of pilot projects between the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India and the International Solar Energy Institute, Uzbekistan.
The coordinated research between the two nations will primarily focus in the areas of Solar Photovoltaic, Storage Technologies and Transfer of Technologies. Based on mutual agreement, both parties would work for implementation and deployment of pilot project in International Solar Alliance (ISA) member countries. The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a treaty based inter-governmental organization working to create a global market system to tap the benefits of solar power and promote clean energy applications.

With 75 signatory countries in this global collective, the ISA creates a multi-stakeholder ecosystem where sovereign nations, multilateral organizations, industry, policymakers and innovators work in together to promote the common and shared goal of meeting energy demands of a secure & sustainable world. Uzbekistan is a part of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), an initiative co-founded by India and France to address common problems pertaining to the development of solar energy, and sharing ideas and technology to further improve its implementation.
