New Delhi, January 20: "The earlier recieved Ram Mandir funds were well managed by the age old, grand Congress party", lashed Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Kameshwar Chaupal as Congress leader Digvijaya Singh raised questions on the previous donations made for the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The Trust member said that at the time when a ban was imposed on Ram temple, Congress was in power and all the funds received were acquired by the then government.

"Congress party was in power at that time when a ban was imposed on Ram Mandir. All the funds were acquired by their government, and all the charge was given to the commissioner who also worked under them. Those who have handed us over the trust can open and check it," Chaupal was quoted.

While donating a cheque of Rs 1,11,111 to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Singh unnecessarily pinched the sitch and said that he was unaware about where to deposit the donation. He also flagrantly urged Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi to make sure that the amount is deposited in an appropriate account.

This is even after the Trust and the related banks, the State bank of India and the Punjab National Bank have already issued the toll free numbers for the donation givers to know the bits and bits details of where the money goes and how will it be used. The toll free numbers are- State Bank of India (18001805155) and Punjab National Bank (18001809800).

Notably, President Ram Nath Kovind has given a donation of Rs 5,00,100 donation for the construction of the grand Ram temple. He handed over the cheque to a joint delegation of office bearers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the VHP and the Ram Mandir Trust at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 15, 2021. RSS has made mega plans to reach out to the common citizens to seek donations for the upcoming Ram temple in Ayodhya. In a historic verdict, the Supreme Court in November 2019 paved the way for the construction of a Ram Temple by a Trust at the disputed site at Ayodhya. "The faith of the Hindus that Lord Ram was born at the demolished structure is undisputed," a 5-judge Constitution had said in its order.

Work on the foundation for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would start by the end of January, as noted by the Temple trust, even as it acknowledged that the study of the soil was still not complete even after seven months. From the day the construction starts, the temple would be completed in 36-39 months, said Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.
