New Delhi, Jan 21: A group of around 60 Muslim intellectuals and religious scholars from Delhi and National Capital region (NCR) donated a sumptuous amount of over Rs. 10 lakh for the construction of Sri Ram Temple at Ayodhya on Tuesday.

Responding to the initiative of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Delhi unit, a meeting of nearly 60 plus Muslim intellectuals including former vice-chancellors, professors, pleaders, lawyers, doctors and religious scholars like imams, maulanas and others was convened on Tuesday at Haryana Bhavan in New Delhi under the benign presence and guidance of MRM Patron and Guide Dr. Indresh Kumar.

Muslims intellectuals from the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jamia Milia University, Jamia Hamdard University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi University (DU), and religious scholars from madarsas and mosques attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting Dr. Indresh Kumar said that Islam believed that Allah had sent 1.24 lakh nabis or prophets like Jesus, Moses, Buddha, Mahavir, Nanak, to this earth at different times and for different peoples on different parts of the earth. That who does not respect them is not a true Muslim, according to Islam, he said.

Criticizing the politicians for treating the Muslims as ‘vote bank’ and neglecting their education, health, employment and economic uplift, he said that these parties and their leaders ruined the Muslim community’s future. They created a fear-psychosis in their minds about the RSS-BJP-VHP and insulted the Hindu ethos and values to placate the Muslims.

He appealed to the Muslim intellectuals to strive to end this ‘hate politics’ and lead the Muslim community on the path of progress, prosperity and literacy. We need to stay away from this politics of hatred and division, he said.

Dr. Indresh Kumar said that according to studies, 99 percent Muslims in India belong to the same ancestors and traditions and culture as that of the Hindus. But, this vote bank politics has severed them from the national mainstream. This he described as a weapon to inflict injuries on the soul of India and stressed the need to nullify this attack.

This meeting is held to emphasize the fact that Sri Ram equally belonged to the Muslims who praise him as ‘Imam-e-Hind’. Therefore, it is only legitimate and logical that the credit for construction of a grand temple at the birthplace of Sri Ram also goes to the Muslims who accepted the Supreme Court verdict in this case with peace and harmony, he said.

Responding to the appeal made by Dr. indresh Kumar, the people who attended the meeting contributed Rs. 10,10,716/- for the construction of Sri Ram Temple at Ayodhya and handed over the amount to the Sri Ram Janmabhumi Teerth Kshetra Trust through him.

MRM National Convener Mohd. Afzal, Dr. Shahid Akhtar Vice-Chairman of NCPUL and national convener of MRM, Maulana Suhaib Qasmi, Maulana Kaukab Mujtaba, academicians, maulanas, imams and others responded positively to the issues discussed at the meeting.

Dr. Indresh Kumar said that the MRM will organize such meetings of Muslim intellectuals religious scholars at Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Vadodara, Surat and other places to convey the message of harmony and unity of all Indians and to collect funds for Sri Ram Mandir.
