Pune, January 21: 10 fire tenders ran at the spot as a massive fire broke out at Terminal 1 gate of the Serum Institute of India in Pune. While the exact cause of the blaze is not known yet, to preliminary information, fire began on the second floor inside one of the buildings. One team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been moved to site of the incident.

CMO Maharashtra tweeted, "CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray is in touch with the Pune Municipal Commissioner and is taking complete on-ground updates. He has directed the state machinery to coordinate and ensure that the situation is under control". The fire has been doused, however, one person still remains stuck in the building.

The incident occurred at a facility where BCG was manufactured. No fire at Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing plant, Maharashtra food and drugs minister Rajendra Shingne noted. "There were four people inside the building. We have rescued three so far although large smoke is hampering the work of bringing the fire under control", he added.
