A champion's welcome for Team India! See how they were received after the historic Test series win in Australia

The Ajinkya Rahane-led Team India had scripted history after Rishabh Pant had hit a delivery from Josh Hazlewood down the ground at The Gabba. It had not only retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy but also the battered, injured and inexperienced had won the series. This time it was special because Team India faced the best home side and India was without their regular and their first-choice players on the tour. Moreover, they had also breached the fortress Gabba in a heroic way chasing down a massive 328.

After being in bio-bubble in Australia since August, the victorious Team India landed in their country finally on January 21. And the welcome they got from the respective state associations and the fans at the airport was overwhelming. The likes of Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Ravi Shastri, Prithvi Shaw and Shardul Thakur were greeted at the Mumbai Airport by the officials of the MCA.
 
 
The skipper who has maintained an undefeated record as India captain, cut the cake while he received a grand welcome near his home in Mulund. From the gate of his apartment, Ajinkya Rahane walked on the Red Carpet and was welcomed in a proper Maharashtrian way.
 
 
T Natarajan, who was drafted into the playing XI in the 4th Test with India's injury list increasing by the match, is given a hero's welcome in Salem, Tamil Nadu. Natarajan was returning home after a long duration, which included his coming into the spotlight in IPL 2020 and the birth of his daughter.

Shardul Thakur left a mark as he finally got a chance to play his second Test. He scored 69 runs and picked seven wickets in the Brisbane Test playing a crucial role in helping India making a comeback in the first innings. When he reached his hometown, firecrackers were burnt and then was welcomed by his parents in a proper Maharashtrian way.
