New Delhi, January 27: Without directly taking the name of Pakistan, India slammed Pakistan for fomenting terror and undertaking a disinformation campaign at a time when the world is fighting a pandemic in the form of COVID-19. Bashing out at Pakistan, India's Deputy Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Ambassador K Nagaraj Naidu, said that, 'Even in the situation like COVID-19, they continue to sponsors of terrorism.'

He said, "These globally recognised state sponsors of terrorism have used the pandemic to ramp up recruitment and infiltration activity to spread the venom of terror.'

"While countries like India have launched vaccination drives and are assisting others during the pandemic, there are countries which continue to foment terror and indulge in hate speech and widespread disinformation campaigns," said Naidu.

Talking about how India is assisting the world community amid the COVID-19, he said, that as the largest vaccine-producing country in the world, India is fulfilling its commitment towards the entire humanity. While two vaccines have already been granted approval in India, the government plans to vaccinate over 300 million citizens over the first six months.

Earlier, TS Tirumurti, the Indian ambassador to the United Nations also criticised Pakistan over the Vandalism of the Hindu Temple that was set ablaze by a mob of hundreds in December last year in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of the neighboring country. He said as a multicultural state, India safeguards all religious and cultural rights and protects places of worship however, authorities of Pakistan stood by idly when the temple in Karak town was attacked.

Tirumurti stressed that, as long as such selectivity exists, the world will never be able to foster a real culture of peace. “This resolution cannot be a smokescreen for countries like Pakistan to hide behind,” he said.
