New Delhi, January 27: Old habits die hard! This phrase perfectly suits the so-called 'intellectual' journalist and Padma Awardee Rajdeep Sardesai because no matter what happens in the country, he will not leave his old habit to spread fake news for their 'Leftist agenda'.

Yesterday when the "anti-farm law protestors" unleashed havoc on the streets of the national capital, he left no stone unturned to mislead the people. Even in that sensitive situation, he shares the fake news about a ‘farmer’ dying in police firing.

Taking to Twitter he wrote, “One person, 45-year-old Navneet killed allegedly in police firing at ITO. Farmers tell me: the ‘sacrifice will not go in vain..,” and posted it with the picture of the deceased’s body covered in the Indian tricolor. Rajdeep Sardesai quietly deleted the tweet without tendering any apology.

It also made me think that why Twitter India didn't flag him for spreading violence and fake news? It is not the first time that Rajdeep has paddled the fake news to propagate their agenda. Twitter's silence has raised lots of questions over their policy.

Coming to the point, he not only did it on Twitter but Sardesai also appeared on the national television channel India Today and repeated the same narration to provoke the farmers. According to him, the "Peace full Protest" sparked after the police shot the 24-year-old Navneet Singh who peacefully driving the tractor in the rally law. He then said that the farmers were keeping his body at the spot, and were demanding justice.

Here's a look:-

But what is the truth then?

Meanwhile, the truth is that the farmer died after a tractor overturned at Delhi's DDU Marg. The Delhi Police released the CCTV footage of the incident later in the evening. In which the one could be seen that the shows that the tractor overturned while trying to break the police barricades. It was seen that the cops immediately rushed to the victim’s rescue. They also attempted to carry his body away, anticipating an explosion in the damaged vehicle.

More interestingly, his own news portal also runs this news on their E-portal with the headline "1 dead as tractor overturns at Delhi's DDU Marg during a violent protest." It seems like Rajdeep doesn't even read his own news portal before tweeting the same.

After knowng the truth Sardesai tried to cover-up the mistake saying, he was only reporting what farmers had told him, but this should be noted he repeated the claims regardless, apparently without any verification of his own. He did this purposely even after knowing that this could probably raise tensions among the protesting farmers in Delhi that can potentially aggravate the sensitive law and order situation in the national capital.

He was trying to wage the war against the country. Instead of talking about press freedom, he should probably first learn some 'Basic Ethics of Journalism ' which says reporters should confirm information from at least two sources before putting it out.
